Meet Our Board
Steve Bussmann has worked for over 25 years as a project manager within multiple service industry fields. Much of this work has involved directly engaging with both Federal, State, and local government agencies. He has excelled at determining the best approach in working with these bureaucracies and has proven to be extremely capable at overcoming the speed bumps associated with accomplishing set goals with these agencies.
Over the past few years Steve felt it was time to give back to the community and decided to enter into, and complete, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training. He is now utilizing this training at the Vienna, VA Volunteer Fire Department. His first-hand experience with in-the-field emergency medical situations is a valuable resource for Trusted Villages to assist in providing life-line recommendations and help guides.
Michael L. Daniels
Michael Daniels is an attorney specializing in Taxation, Estate Planning and Corporate Law. He earned his J.D. as well as a Masters in Tax Law from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to entering the legal field, he ran his own information technology consulting company for 15 years. He also spent time as a federal employee, vice president of a startup company and worked for one of the big-four consulting & accounting firms.
Michael Daniels has a passion for helping others succeed and believes in the thought that “you can have everything that you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” It is this belief and passion that drove him to study law after a full career working with and for the government. As an attorney, he seeks to make the law accessible to all and endeavors to teach others the practical principals found in the law that lead to wealth and success.
Michelle Flynn has worked in the field of education for over 20 years. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the State University of New York at Oswego and later completed an endorsement program in educational administration and supervision through the University of Virginia. Michelle began her career as a business teacher and taught both high school students as well as adults in the community college setting. Her passion for working with students and teachers led her to positions as an assistant principal, director of student services, and health and medical sciences program manager in the fifth largest school division in the United States. More recently, Michelle worked at Radford University as an Associate Program Manager for a non-profit outreach program focused on providing education, training, and certificate programs to government finance professionals.
Some of Michelle’s professional accomplishments include working with the International Baccalaureate program as both an instructor and as a school based administrator, developing and implementing career and technical education programs leading to national certifications for students through the development of business partnerships and grants, and supporting students and teachers in becoming lifelong learners.
Amy Joyner, RN, BSN, has been a practicing nurse in Northern Virginia for over 30 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Catholic University. Amy has worked in critical care as a Nursing Supervisor and as a Nursing Instructor. With extensive experience caring for patients over the lifespan of her career, she has worked with seniors who are making the transition to Age in Place. Amy currently specializes in Public Health, Clinical Supervision and Home Care. Amy is also an approved Virginia Department of Social Services Medication Administration Trainer. Her nursing career has been dedicated to providing high-quality nursing care to diverse patient populations.
Captain, USN, Retired
Kristin Strong had a distinguished career of service in the United States Navy. During her career she held a broad range of positions including Unit and Station commander. However her expertise in Human Resource management was an area in which she excelled and received a Meritorious Service Medal for her exemplary work in helping redefine the Human Resource Policies for the United States Navy while she was stationed at the Pentagon. She also served as Station Commander in Boston which presented her the opportunity to work with union representatives and contractors required to perform civilian tasks under her command. She retired from the United States Navy in 2014.
Kristin Strong has a passion for helping others succeed. She also has firsthand experience with the challenges that face those who want to age in place. Her vast experience provides Trusted Villages® an outstanding resource in numerous areas.
